Armadillos are enemies that Crash encounters in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back. They are primarily found in the earlier stages of the game. They are small blue mammals with a bulky body that live in the jungle-themed levels of Cortex Strikes Back.

The armadillos make their first appearance in the intro of the game. They can be seen walking back and forth along Crash's path. Crash can defeat the armadillos by simply jumping on them or spinning them away when he gets near one. If Crash makes contact with an armadillo though, he will die (or lose any Aku Aku mask that he may be carrying).

In the secret areas of the levels Un-Bearable and Bee-Having, there are a different variety of armadillos that appear here. The armadillos in this area are armored with a light blue color and tough robotic shell on their body. They cannot be killed by simply spinning them away, but by taking damage or belly flopping on them, Crash can break their armor and then spin, jump, slide, belly flop or use an invincibility Aku Aku mask to kill them while they are vulnerable.

In Crash Team Racing, armadillos are seen on the track Dingo Canyon, rolling back and forth across the road. If a racer hits one of the armadillos then their kart will spin out. Armadillos also reappear in the N. Sane Trilogy remake of the second game where they reprise the same roles they had in the original version of the game.

An anthropomorphic armadillo chef can be found in Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time in the levels Run It Bayou and No Dillo Dallying operating a Dingo's Diner boat. He appears visibly distraught when the playable character dies. This chef also appears in the Special of the Day emblem in Crash Team Rumble.
