Barrel Throwers are potoroos that work for Pinstripe Potoroo. Their only appearance is in the original Crash Bandicoot/N. Sane Trilogy, in the level Toxic Waste.

They appear as the main enemies of the level. Their main attack is to throw toxic waste barrels at Crash. Once thrown, the barrels roll down the main path. Whenever he throws a barrel, the potoroo lets out an evil chuckle. They throw regular barrels or jumping toxic barrels, which are also seen in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Team Racing. The jumping toxic barrels are harder to dodge, so the player will have to time their movements carefully. When Crash gets close enough, he can defeat the henchman with a spin attack. The next level after Toxic Waste is Pinstripe's boss fight, so it is assumed the barrel throwers were attempting to stop Crash from reaching Pinstripe's office.

Similar to Pinstripe and machine gunners, barrel throwers are dressed like the gangsters of the 1930's and 1960's, complete with a fancy black mobster jacket, pink shirt, white tie and fedora hat. They are also more obese than Pinstripe and machine gunners.

  • The barrel thrower's laugh is also used for the Komodo Brothers laughing in Crash 2, whenever Tiny Tiger wins a minigame in Crash Bash, and funnily enough the Komodo Brothers, at the start of their boss fight in the same game.
  • The role of the barrel thrower is similar to that of Nintendo's Donkey Kong in his titular game.
  • The laugh sound is called Low Throaty Laugh from album Best of Cartoon & Movie Sound F-X.
  • The laughing sound is no longer used in the remake, the Barrel Throwers are now silent.
