The Atlasphere, as named in Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced[1], also spelled Atlas Sphere in the manual[2], is an object that appears in certain Crash Bandicoot games, usually to indicate a new gameplay mode. It's a ball that Crash Bandicoot, among other characters, rolls around in. It first appeared in Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex; it is used on five of the levels, and one is a boss fight level: Bamboozled, Rumble in the Roks (Boss), Eskimo Roll, Medieval Madness and Solar Bowler. It is also used in Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced by Crash and Crunch Bandicoot in three levels: Globe Trottin', Barrel Roll and Rocks Can Roll.
In N-Tranced's multiplayer mode Coco Bandicoot, Neo Cortex, N. Gin, Tiny Tiger, Dingodile, Mega-Mix, N. Tropy, and N. Trance can use it too. The player can move it by rolling around in the desired direction.
In Crash Boom Bang!, it appears in certain mini-games.
In Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, a metallic atlasphere is used by Crash (or Coco) in the level Hit the Road (as well as its Tawna timeline counterpart, Truck Stopped) to outrun N. Gin's truck, the Doom Rig. Atlaspheres are also used by a certain variety of enemies, the Rambling Rollers.
In Crash Team Rumble, the altasphere from It's About Time returns as an unlockable Relic Station in the map Calamity Canyon, known as a Junker Ball. A similar power-up is available on the map Just Beachy in the form of a bouncy beach ball.
