Not to be confused with Spitter Plants.

The man-eating plant is a reccurring plant enemy in the Crash Bandicoot series.

Overview[]

Crash Bandicoot[]

The man-eating plant's first appearance is in the level Jungle Rollers. It is a plant with three red jaws as its "head", each containing numerous pointed teeth. They will lunge at Crash once he comes close enough. They can be defeated by a spin or jump attack. Crash must bait the plants into attacking first in order to jump on them, but will be immune to their chomping attack if he's spinning.

In Boulder Dash, they are cyan with large bright spots instead.

They are functionally identical to the snakes in Temple Ruins and Jaws of Darkness. A similar enemy exists in the levels Upstream and Up the Creek known as the venus fly trap.

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back[]

The man-eating plant reappears in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back in three levels: in the river levels Hang Eight, Air Crash and Plant Food, where they retain all their mechanics from the first game and their heads are now colored dark purple. A red-headed variant exists in the levels Diggin' It and Bee-Having, known as the spitter plant.

Crash Bandicoot: Dansu! De Jump! Na Daibouken[]

Man-eating plants play a significant role in the 6th chapter, Enter! Danger Zone of Evil!. Crash stumbles upon a massive garden of man-eating plants, and almost gets eaten after mistaking a man-eating plant with its mouth closed for a giant strawberry. The power stone that Crash was looking for turns out to be held by an intelligent man-eating plant, which, unlike the other plants, has eyes and the ability to speak. Crash is terrified of this plant and tries to speed away on his Jet Board, only to accidentally go in reverse and collide with the plant, knocking it out and making it drop the power stone.

Crash Team Racing[]

The man-eating plants appear on the track Papu's Pyramid. If a racer drives too close, the plant will swallow them whole and spit out only the wheels, causing the driver to lose time and letting opponents overtake them. They look the same as they did in Cortex Strikes Back.

Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure[]

Man-eating plants appear in the jungle levels and retain their basic attack from previous games. They are similar in appearance to the ones in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, except they have a lighter purple-colored head, and don't have white spots.

Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto's Rampage[]

Man-eating plants are common enemies in the first world, Wumpa Jungle, where they still repeat their basic attack. They also appear on a trading card, where they are called a "Venus Fly Trap".

Crash Twinsanity[]

Man-eating plants appear in Crash Twinsanity in the levels Jungle Bungle and Totem Hokum as much larger relatives of previous ones, with their appearance close to the first game, though with two red jaws instead of three. They will attempt to bite Crash when he is within range. Unlike the first game, however, they cannot be jumped on. When defeated, they will screech and green fluids will fly from them as they fall to the ground.

Crash Tag Team Racing[]

The man-eating plants appear in some of the "Crashinator" challenges as obstacles. They more closely resemble real-life Venus flytraps.

Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 2[]

Man-eating plants appear on the track Mayan Mayhem, with the same role as in Crash Team Racing.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy[]

Man-eating plants reappear in the N. Sane Trilogy, where they reprise their role from the original games. They only have two jaws this time, instead of three.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled[]

Man-eating plants appear in Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled, fulfilling the same role as they did in Crash Team Racing. Once again, they are found only on Papu's Pyramid. They look the same as they did in N. Sane Trilogy.
