Spiders are enemies that appear in the original Crash Bandicoot game and as an obstacle in Crash Team Racing. They are large black spiders that live dark areas and ancient ruins. In Crash Bandicoot, the spiders appear in Jaws of Darkness, where they can be found in various places throughout the level. They attack by descending from the ceiling on their web. Crash can defeat them by simply spinning them away. The spiders also appear in Lights Out, where they are used by Crash to jump across the large pit in order to reach the exit of the levels. The same spiders appear in the Cortex Castle track in Crash Team Racing, In this game, they will drop down from the ceiling every few seconds to try and obstruct the racers while they are driving. When they are descending from the ceiling in this game, their shadow can be seen, which gives the racers a heads up when they are dropping.
