Tornado Alley (たつまきむらの たたかい lit. Tornado Village Battle in Japanese) is the second level of the first warp room in Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex. It is the first level in the game that takes place in a remote rural area via air camera. Crash must fly around in a glider and shoot down Cortex'stornado generators that are causing tornadoes. If Crash flies into the tornadoes he will be spun around but won't take damage.
The cut glider level bears many similarities to this level, implying that Traveller's Tales were originally going to use that level's background rather than the current one.
Originally, an airplane would have dropped Crash in the level, instead of a blimp.
Early screenshots of the level show how the weather was originally intended to be clear, with no signs of a dark, gloomy sky.
The name of this level could be named after an area in the USA called Tornado Alley, which suffers from hundreds of tornadoes each year.
Coincidentally, there is also a book called Tornado Alley by the author William S. Burroughs.
In the beginning of the level, Coco can be heard saying "Looks like Neo's using them to make the tornadoes!". This marks the first and currently only time where Dr. Neo Cortex is mentioned by his first name.
